Events in your childhood or early adulthood have shaped the way you think, act, and interact with people close to you. The world is constantly changing. The first step you need to take is to become aware of the childhood experiences that affected you the most. Unless you don't understand the underlying mechanism of your behavior, you won't be able to change it. But sometimes we are actually less compassionate or willing to help them, particularly if we are currently experiencing a similar situation. The beliefs that we form later on in life are comparatively less rigid and can be changed without much effort. Self-reflection is turning our attention inward to consider what we are feeling at a given moment, why we acted in such a way, and how our past experiences have shaped us. A child absorbs information from its environment so fast and at such a high rate that by age 6, thousands of beliefs are already formed in its mind- beliefs that will help the kid interact with the world.
